Minecraft Multiplayer Pvp

Multiplayer Pvp Survival Tips

All right, as some of know, Pvp stands for Player vs. Player, which means your objective in this type of server is to kill other players. You may find it frustrating when you leave spawn and get mauled by some dude in diamond armor. So, I'm going to give you some tips on how to survival in Pvp.

The Combat

Combat in Pvp can be a pain in the neck, or it could be fun if you do the right things.

Combat Against Mobs

Vs. Zombie: Zombies are probably one of the easiest mobs to kill. The best way to kill them is to just walk backwards and hit them as they come close to you, or you could just snipe them with 3 arrow shots.

Vs. Skeletons: Skeletons are probably one of the most annoying mobs to kill. They strafe left or right and fire at you with their bows. The best way to kill them is to shoot them with bows and arrows from long distance away, or jump around while circling around them and hit them with your sword.

Vs. Spiders: Spiders can get on everyone's nerves as they can climb and fall on you. During combat, they will run and jump on you, so run backwards and hit them with your sword, or shoot them with arrows.

Vs. Creepers: Run up, hit, run back. Simple as pie. Unless you be dumb and stay up there a hit and it blows you to pieces. Timing is essential when fighting creepers. If you get one block within the creeper, it will hiss and blow up after 1.5 seconds.

(Or for all of these, you could just be a boss and charge them swinging your sword skeeter's land)

You should probably not aggro to many mobs at the same time as you could be busy fighting them and some player could come up and kill you.

So try not to don't let this happen:

( spider jumping on you, skeleton shooting at you, and you have a creeper to worry about)

 One good tip:
Have Optifine Mod as it will show you mobs (and players) even when the world hasn't loaded, as seen in this screeshot:
This is very helpful if you are looking for mobs (or players) to kill or trying to run away.
(texture pack used: Gerudoku)

Combat Against the Players (this is where stuff gets more fun)

1. Anyone you do not know is your enemy. Do not trust anyone with anything as they can end up betraying you and killing you. Example: (add random guy to faction, make him moderator, he steals your stuff and kills you)
2. Always surprise your opponent, charging him in the open is probably the dumbest thing to do as he can whip out a bow and snipe you down before you get within 20 blocks of him.
3. Use the power of sneaking and then surprise attack him and take his stuff. Most people will rage quit and you have won. :)
4. Be alert. You should always look around you every 15 seconds or so if you are walking around in the wilderness, otherwise someone could run up behind and kill you with a even a wooden sword if they are quick enough.
5. Don't get cocky. Once you kill some guy and take his stuff, run. Don's stand there jumping around, derping around and celebrating because if you killed a guy in a faction, his allies could come over and slay you.
6. Keep your inventory light. If you kill a guy, and you didn't unload after mining, you might not have room to take his awesome diamond armor and tools and melons.

The Weapons

1. Swords: Hand-to-hand combat. As simple as swords go. There are wooden, stone, gold (which sucks), iron, and diamond (which is the best) swords.
How to use a sword:

1. Run up to enemy and rapidly click left mouse button.
:)
The best way to fight a player is to jump around them in a circle so you will be hard to hit and you could get critical hits.

2. Bow and Arrows: Probably most difficult item to get since arrows need flint, feathers, and a sticks. Feathers are hard to find on servers as other players might have killed all the chickens. Your best bet for arrows are from skeletons. Anyways, bows are good for long range combat except some people have a hard time angling their shots. Plus, you should always carry a sword even if you are a good archer because bows won't help in hand-to-hand combat.

3. Flint n' Steel, Lava Buckets: These technically aren't weapons but they can be used to alternate the chance of winning your battle. Lets say you are walking around  in the wilderness, and someone ambushes you out of a tree. He has iron armor and swords and so do you, but you don't have time to switch to your sword or the guy might cut you up. But let's say you have lava, dump it on him. It'll give you time to equip your sword and the lava will eat away his health and maybe kill him. A lava bucket could be the difference between life or death. (Same stuff applies to flint and steel)

Factions

Most servers by now usually have the factions plug-in where you can make your bases and protect your stuff, and recruit members. Explain everything you can do with factions takes time, so I am going to refer you to Wlo1234's Faction Guide which is the best: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/970503-the-ultimate-guide-to-factions/

Tips on Factions

You probably are going to start inviting anyone you can invite to your faction, but don't do this. This is probably one of the worst things to do as you don't anyone. Because as I said, anyone you don't know is your enemy. Let's say you did add some random guy to your faction with your awesome stuff in it. Jackpot for random guy. He could just ditch you when you are offline and take your stuff. That's why it's important to not add any random player.

The best way to own the top spot on a Pvp server is to get on with a bunch of friends and build a big fort. Because the more people you have in your faction, the more power you have, so it will be difficult for other factions to take over your land. Plus if you guys engage in combat, there will be more back-up if trouble comes.

Have you ever tried to break into a faction but the land was protected? Well, the land isn't invincible to lit TNT, but you can't placed TNT and light it on their ground. So what you do is...you make a cannon! But you are probably thinking that making a cannon will take you like 2 hours to get TNT and redstone. This is a simple TNT cannon design:

X=Dirt T=TNT  S=stone(which is the base you want to break into)

S
S
SS                TT
SSS       XXXXXXXXXX
SSSS        XXXXXXXXXX
SSSS

So what you do is light the TNT block that is not facing the base, you light it, wait a few moments, then light the one you want to blast a hole into the base. Simple. The only thing you need to worry about is getting out of the base because if your not careful, you could get stuck in their base. (Unless you have Enderpearls.)

Getting the Resources

I know this should be around the beginning of the article, but it is more fun to talk about the exciting stuff first. Anyways, most of you are probably wondering how many faction's members all have diamond armor and tools in about an hour. Well, I tell you that those people probably use X-Ray hacks and see through stuff. Even though servers ban it, they usually don't have any way to find out that you are doing it, so i recommend you use X-Ray or be modest and take hours to get yourself you tools and armor. One thing to have in mind when getting resources, like punching trees or mining away in the earth, is to always look around once in a while to be sure nobody is about to kill you. Also, when you are smelting ores, you should always cover your self up inside a small cave or something and seal of the entrance and sneak so nobody could see your nameplate and or kill you and take your iron or gold(though gold is pretty useless in Pvp unless you have apples or you could sell them for money).

Raiding Factions

You can find raiding factions pretty difficult as you have to claim the faction's land first as said before being able to open their chests. The way to claim their land and to raid their stuff is to kill the faction's members to lower their power level so that you can take their land away from them. Again, you should go to Wlo1234's Pvp guide because he explain's things a lot better then me. Anyways, the best way to raid a faction-if you even get to raiding one-is to take their valuables, break their chests, and use flint and steel to burn the rest of their items. That will really make the faction mad. They will probably declare war on you but you have their stuff and it won't be a big deal(unless you are a one man faction which is not really not good).

Well, I guess that pretty much covers my quick guide on surviving in Pvp, so I hope all you Pvp-ers find this guide at least a bit helpful.
